Big Question: In America, do we value power over reality, or do we struggle to teach the truth moving forward?

Another point I forgot to mention, but I think is important is the idea that in America, we often study figures of heroism that are of white descent and are males. During this reading, we are learning about a white male that was not a good human being, yet we still have a holiday named after him and some schools and stores are even off on the holiday. This to me is an example of historical favoritism and I think it is going to be up to us as teachers to stop it.
